Reports to: Directors serve as the highest executive body of The Lavender Convention
Job Description:
The Lavender Convention Board is the highest leadership body of the organization, engaged in strategic and organizational planning. In addition, board members will conduct strong fiduciary oversight and set program direction/oversight. This position is a perfect opportunity to be a change agent in the LGBTQ+ Community, as well as the greater community. In the course of the director’s work, they will gain valuable experience in building a dynamic program from the ground-up. This position is a want-to-make-a-difference call to action.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Attend scheduled board meetings.
- Participate in at least one board sub-committee.
- Active participation in the building and promotion of The Lavender Convention.
- Serve as a local Lavender Convention coordinator.
- Assist with corporate fundraising, where possible.
- Promote The Lavender Convention, leveraging personal and professional networks.
- Use personal creativity to enhance the mission and work of the Convention.
- Board activity will be virtual and online during the course of the pandemic. Board members will participate in a yearly in-person board retreat. The location will be determined after the expanded board is in place.
- Board members are asked to participate on various ad hoc committees throughout the year with some light tasks and responsibilities between meetings.
- Board members are asked to make a significant personal financial gift to The Lavender Convention each year.
Qualifications:
- any combination of profession training/experience, with an emphasis on skills
- experience in any of the following areas: multi-media, social media, finance, administration, grant writing, human resources, legal, and academics
- comfort with consensus-driven decision making
- enjoys working in a collegial/cooperative team environment
- creative and critical thinker
